Hello, I know I've been away for awhile. Life has served me up some time and I am grateful for it. Gratitudes in times like these are saving graces, reminders to ourselves that even now we are so blessed with food, shelter, clean water and so many other things.
So I decided today that I am not in self-isolation. I am on retreat. Now anyone that knows me, knows I love retreats. The quieter the better. I plan very carefully for them. Choosing what to bring, what to focus on and setting an intention for the what I want to accomplish.
I invite you to come on retreat with me. Join me in refocusing our energies from stress to rest by visioning this time as a time of positive actions carefully considered within a framework of controlling what can be controlled. We can't control the virus or the world's reactions to it, but there is much within our lives that we can control.
Let's start with selected readings. Find books that inspire you... or just dig up those books you have that you've been meaning to read. Now is the time. I am currently reading "Chrysalis" by Kim Todd, the story of a woman in the 1600"s who illustrated butterflies and where that passion led her.
Next, on my retreat there are no alarms, fitbits or appointments. Time expands in a good way when those things are removed from life. Sleep is deeper and more healing. Possibilities open up. Ask yourself how you can use this time to become better, more successful, more loving. Time is a gift and this time is no different.
On every retreat, I create time for prayer and meditation. I especially enjoy walking meditation, outdoors in Nature. Nothing is more healing and inspiring than to get out into Creation and marvel at the wonders it offers us for free, if we only pay attention. My prayers are both silent and active, as I pray for guidance on how to better support my friends and family as well as anyone who may need. In this retreat, I am calling friends to check on them, sending cards and uplifting messages as well as anything that could bring on a smile. My intention and prayer is to be, as much as possible both a support and a breath of fresh air.
Don't forget to eat healing foods. Lots of fruits and vegetables. Drink plenty of fluids. Sip comforting teas with honey and rest.
This time can be a time of growth that you get to choose and control. I hope you enjoy it.

Art is my passport to a limitless journey. When I am not exploring my materials on a technical level, there is visual exploration before me. When that seems a bit thin, there is a deep calling from the realm of my imagination. Sometimes all three come together in a perfect storm. That storm, that combination of the real, the imagined and the very paint and canvas is what calls me daily, and I answer as much as I can.....
