The very first day of 30 paintings in 30 days.
On one hand I am thinking I am just a little crazy
to commit to this challenge. what with work, a house, a husband,
two dogs and some very lovable friends, not to mention
classes to teach, laundry to do, meals to cook,
But you know, I'm thinking
this is going to be FUN!
OK so here's the deal.
I'm working on TEXTURE by priming each canvas with modeling paste.
I'm using it much thinner as I'm progressing, letting some of the canvas show through
and going for a kind aged fresco/canvas look.
Next, I'm using a very LIMITED PALETTE.
If not monochrome, then an almost Leonardo Da Vinci
style selection of colors.....maybe three plus white and paynes gray.
BIG BRUSH STROKES and trying to leave them alone once I place them.
You'll see some drybrush as well as some really JUICY strokes.
All the paintings will be for sale at Daily Paintworks (originals).
Prints can be purchased at Fine Art America.

Art is my passport to a limitless journey. When I am not exploring my materials on a technical level, there is visual exploration before me. When that seems a bit thin, there is a deep calling from the realm of my imagination. Sometimes all three come together in a perfect storm. That storm, that combination of the real, the imagined and the very paint and canvas is what calls me daily, and I answer as much as I can.....
